I found many things in the Da Vinci exhibit very interesting. He had many great ideas and figured out some great things that were really ahead of his time. I found it fascinating that he even drew sketches of flying machines and equipment to be used under water. Many of his ideas were taken and tweaked and we now use many of his ideas in our everyday lives.
As I am very interested in music, I found the musical instruments he had designed to be very interesting. He designed a portable piano, a mechanical drum for the military, and a double flute.
I also find it interesting that though Da Vinci was a pacifist, he designed many killing machines for the military. He designed something that would potentially cut off the heads of several men at one time and something very similar to a tank.

Chilean and Haitian Earthquakes
Chile: 8.8
Haiti: 7.0
The Chilean Earthquake was 501 times more powerful that the Haitian Earthquake. There was more movement of the Earth in the Chilean Earthquake but it was further underground so the effects didn't appear to be as bad. We heard about the Haitian Earthquake more because it was closer to the surface of the Earth and more devastating to the people in Haiti.
According to NASA, the Chilean Earthquake may have shortened the day and shifted the earth's position on its axis.

Linear Regression of Iowa Population
Year Population
2000 2,928,046
2001 2,929,294
2002 2,929,395
2003 2,933,407
2004 2,942,739
2005 2,951,775
2006 2,967,270
2007 2,983,360
2008 3,002,555
r=0.94
y=9239.2x+2905786.3
The y-intercept (2905786.3) represents the population of Iowa in 1999 (year 0). The slope (9239.2) represents the growth of people in x years since 1999.
The data shows that the population growth of Iowa from 2000-2008 is fairly linear. The coefficient of correlation is 0.94 which shows that Iowa has seen steady and regular growth over the years.
It is important to be able to analyze regressions equations and scatterplots to be able to see patterns that occur. Data can be used to predict future results. For example, using this data, one may be able to predict the population of Iowa in 2020.
